In-Cabin Pet Policy

Singapore Airlines  does not permit pets to travel in the cabin of the aircraft with the exception of medically certified service dogs* which are not included on their banned breed list (see step #6). Two weeks notice should be provided. *Service dogs must have required training by member organization of the Assistance Dogs International (ADI) or the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF).

As of April 1, 2023, emotional support dogs will be subject to Singapore Airline's pet policies which do not allow dogs and cats to fly in the cabin unless classified as service dogs.

Checked Baggage Pet Policy

If your pet is too large to fit under the seat, it is an animal other than a dog or cat, or if it is a very long flight, Singapore Airlines may transport your pet in the cargo section of the aircraft according to its regulations. This section of the cargo department has the same temperature and pressure as the passenger cabin.

Age

Pets must be at least 3 months old to fly in the cargo hold as checked baggage.

Maximum Weight

If the weight of your pet and its crate exceeds 32 kg, it will need to fly as air cargo.

Route Restrictions:

Singapore Airlines will not transport dogs or cats to or from Australia, New Zealand, Denpasar, Bali, Germany or South Africa as checked baggage. Additionally, there is no checked baggage service into Dubai, Hong Kong SAR or the United Kingdom.

Aircraft Restrictions

Crates must not measure more than 22" (0.56m) in height on A330 aircraft, 43.3" (1.01m) in height on B777 aircraft, 23.6" (0.6m) in height on A380 aircraft and 27.5" (0.7m) in height on A350 aircraft.

Reservations

Your pet must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance. Check-in at reservation desk where you will pay excess baggage charge.

Check-In

Check your pet in at the ticket counter at least 2 hours prior to departure. For departures out of the United States, check-in should be 3 hours prior to departure.

Cost

For all flights except those originating or terminating in the United States, the cost will depend on the total weight of your pet and its crate. For itineraries involving the United States, the cost will run between $120 and $280 depending on the route.

Transit

If you are transiting in Singapore for over four hours, your pet will be transferred to the Changi animal & Plant Quarantine Station (CAPQ). A nominal fee will be payable to AVA for accommodating your pet during the layover.

Temperature Restrictions

Pets will not be accepted in the cargo hold when actual or forecasted temperatures are above 85°F (29.4°C) or below 45°F (7.2°C) at any city on the itinerary. Pets may be accepted at temperatures below 45°F with an acclimation certificate.

Forms Required

You will need to present export, import or transshipment permits or licenses from your departure, destination or transit country's authorities. Valid health and rabies vaccination certificates must also be provided. Health Certificates should be issued by a licensed veterinarian within 10 days of travel.

Crate Requirements

Crates should be IATA compliant (see Air Cargo section below). Metal hardware should be used to fasten the top and bottom halves of your pet' crate together. Click here for crate requirements.

Pets Allowed

Singapore Airlines will transport unaccompanied and larger animals as cargo. For flights served by A380-800 planes, only live tropical fish, insects and reptiles can be accepted as cargo. Pet birds, pigs, primates intended for research and greyhounds used for racing will not be accepted.

Forms Required

Health Certificate issued within 10 days of travel by a licensed veterinarian. Also required are proof of vaccinations and pet passport documents for the country your pet is traveling to (international travel only). Quarantine arrangements for destination country, if required, must be made in advance.
