1.

In-Cabin Pet Policy

If your small dog or cat meets the requirements listed in LATAM pet policy to travel in-cabin, you will need an approved airline pet carrier. The carrier must have a waterproof bottom, have room for your pet to stand up and turn around, must fasten securly and have adequate ventilation. If you have a soft-sided carrier, it cannot exceed 14"D x 13"W x 9"H (36cm x 33cm x 23cm). Hard carriers cannot exceed 14"D x 13"W x 7.5"H (36cm x 33cm x 19cm)

Pets Allowed:

Small cats and dogs under 15.4 pounds (7kg) including carrier weight.

Age Requirements:

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to travel in the cabin. (16 weeks of age if entering the US) They must travel with a passenger who is over 12 years of age. Passengers with medical devices are not permitted to carry pets on the aircraft.

Restrictions:

LATAM will not transport pets to the following destinations: Galapagos Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Papeet or the United Kingdom.

Pets that have been sedated are not permitted on LATAM flights.

Carrier Requirements:

Carrier measurements will vary depending on the aircraft serving the route. There is one pet permitted per passenger. Carriers must be secure, allow for your pet to stand up and turn around and must have a waterproof bottom.

Maximum carrier size hardsided: 9"H x 15.5"W x 21.5"L (23cm x 40cm x 21.5cm)
Maximum carrier size softsided: 10.5"H x 15.5"W x 21.5"L (27cm x 40cm x 55cm)

Documentation

All pets flying with LATAM must have a current health certificate issued within 10 days of travel issued by a licensed veterinarian. Vaccination certificates are required for dogs and cats over 3 months of age. All documentation required for the destination country must be provided at check-in.

Reservations

You should notify LATAM that you are traveling with a pet within 48 hours before making your own booking. Your pet will count towards your carry-on allowance.

Check-In:

You must arrive at the airport and check-in with an LATAM ticket agent at least 3 hours prior to departure time for all domestic flights within Brazil and 4 hours prior to departure for international flights.

Service and Emotional Support Animals

LATAM will transport professionally trained service animals which are assisting customers with disabilities free of charge. The service animals must be must be harnessed and will sit at the passenger's feet. It must be identified as a service dog trained to assist a person with a disability by a professional service animal institution. Notice must be given a minimum of 48 hours in advance.

LATAM will transport emotional support dogs with a medical certificate issued with one year of the flight on the letterhead of your psychiatrist, psychologist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (United States). Notice must be given a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Your dog should travel with a muzzle and will be required when flying LATAM Airlines Chile.

Emotional support dogs will be flown on flights to/from Mexico and Colombia. Cats will be flown on flights within Colombia.

Checked Baggage Pet Policy

If your pet is too large to fit under the seat, it is an animal other than a dog or cat, or if it is a very long flight, LATAM may transport your pet in the cargo section of the aircraft according to its regulations. This section of the cargo department has the same temperature and pressure as the passenger cabin.

Pets Allowed:

Cat or dogs.

Route Restrictions:

Pets are not permitted to fly as checked baggage to Galapagos Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Papeet or the United Kingdom.

Reservations:

To fly your pet as checked baggage, reservations should be made at least 48 hours in advance and before booking your ticket.

Check-In:

When flying as checked baggage, you will check in your pet at the passenger ticket counter at least 3 hours prior to departure for domestic flights and 4 hours for international flights in an IATA compliant pet crate at which time you will pay the fee for transport. In order to travel as checked baggage, The weight of your pet and its carrier should not exceed 100 pounds (45kg) including crate otherwise your pet will travel via LATAM Cargo.

Temperature Restrictions:

If, at any point,(origination/transit/destination) during your pet's transport, the temperature for the day is forecast to be less than 45° F or greater than 85°F, your pet will be refused transport as checked baggage. There are no exceptions to these temperature restrictions.

Forms Required

LATAM will require a health certificate issued by a licensed vet within 10 days of transport and all forms required for your pet's destination country be presented at check-in when traveling internationally.

Crate Requirements:

The crate must meet all IATA standards. Click here for IATA pet crate requirements. Your pet's head must be at least 2" (5cm) below the top of the crate. Three puppies from the same litter can travel in the same crate up to 6 months of age and less than 14kg each. There must be sufficient room in the crate.

Crate must measure less than 300 cm (118 in) in linear dimensions (length + width + height) and be less than 45" (115cm) tall.

Metal hardware should be used to fasten the top and bottom halves of your pet' crate together.

Manifest (Air) Cargo Pet Policies

Cats, dogs, equine, fish and other animals.

Forms Required:

A health certificate issued within 10 days of travel, proof of rabies vaccination and all forms required for your destination country. LATAM will require all forms required for destination country be presented at check-in when traveling internationally.

Check-In:

Pets should be checked in at least 3 hours before departure for domestic flights and 4 hours before departure for international flights.

The following breeds will not be accepted for transport in the cargo hold as checked baggage:

Affenpinscher, Akita Inu, Dogue de Bordeaux, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Argentinian Mastiff, Boxer (all breeds), Boston Terrier, Brazilian Mastiff, Brussels Griffin, Bull Mastiff, Bull Terrier, Bulldog (all breeds), Chinese Shar-pei, Chow Chow, English Staffordshire Bull Terrier, English Toy Spaniel, Italian Mastiff, Japanese Chin, Japanese Tosa, Mastiff (all breeds), Pit Bull Terrier, Pug (all breeds), Rottweiler, Shih Tzu, Tibetan Spaniel, Pekingese, Pit Bull and Presa Canario.

Burmese Cats, Exotic Shorthair, Himalayan Cats and Persian Cats.

LATAM will accept snub-nosed breeds as air cargo on domestic flights in Brazil booked by an IPATA agent with the exception of the following breeds: Pug, Boston Terrier, English and French Bulldogs.

LATAM Cargo will not ship dangerous or offensive animals, unhealthy animals or pets that will be banned by the country of destination.
