In-Cabin Pet Policy

All Nippon Airways does not permit pets to travel in the cabin of the aircraft with the exception of medically certified service dogs.

Checked Baggage/Cargo Pet Policy

The cargo section of the aircraft has the same temperature and pressure as the passenger cabin. TIP: Be sure to tell the Captain of the aircraft that your pet is flying in the cargo hold so that they can be sure to keep the temperature at the proper level. Find more tips on airline pet travel in cargo.

Animals Permitted as Checked Baggage

Dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, hamsters, and ferrets. Cold blooded animals (turtles, reptiles, fish) are NOT permitted for transport.

Route Restrictions

All Nippon Airways will not transport dogs, cats or other live animals between Narita and Mumbai or Yangon routes.

Forms

All pets must be accompanied with proof of vaccinations, a health certificate issued 10 days or less prior to travel as well as all documentation required for their destination country.

Temperature Restrictions

If, at any point (origination/transit/destination) during your pet's route, the temperature is forecast to be less than 10 degrees F (-12°C) or greater than 85°F (29°C) in the origination, layover or destination airports, your pet will be refused transport in the cargo hold. There are no exceptions to these temperature restrictions.

Breed Restrictions

The following dog breeds will not be transported between July 1 and September 30 due to higher temperatures: Bulldog, French Bulldog, Boxer, Shih Tzu, Boston Terrier, Bull Terrier, Brussels Griffon, Chow Chow, Chin, King Charles Spaniel, Tibetan Spaniel, Pug, Pekingese.

If your dog or cat is traveling in the cargo section, it must fly in a pet crate that is IATA compliant. Learn more about IATA compliant pet crates.

We also suggest that you consider crate hardware for your pet's crate as more airlines are requiring it. Once you receive your crate, you will need to acclimate your pet to it before traveling. Our guide for preparing your pet and its crate for travel is helpful, especially for first time pet travelers. Download Preparing Your Pet and Its Crate for Travel.
