Mozambique Pet Passport & Quarantine Information


REGULATIONS FOR THE MOVEMENT OF PETS INTO MOZAMBIQUE THE UNITED STATES, CANADA AND OTHER THIRD COUNTRIES WITH A LOW INCIDENCE OF RABIES.


Mozambique requires that your dog or cat be vaccinated for rabies at least 30 days prior to entry but not more than 12 months prior to entry.

The vaccination record must show proof of DHPP for Dogs, strongly suggest Lepto for this part of the world and Cats must show proof of FVRCP

If you have a microchip implanted, which is recommended then the microchip should meet ISO standards 11784/11785 which is a 15 digit encrypted microchip.

A veterinary certificate should be completed by your veterinarian as close to the entry date as possible but not more than 10 days in advance of entry.

All documentation MUST be in the name of the owner of the pet

Failure to comply with these regulations will mean that the pet will be refused entry but that the relevant authority in consultation with an authorized vet can decide to return the pet home, or place the pet in quarantine at the expense of the owner or natural person responsible for pet; or as a last resort, without financial compensation, put the pet down where the return trip home or quarantine cannot be envisaged.

All other pets (birds, invertebrates, tropical fish, reptiles, amphibia, mammals such as rodents and rabbits) are not subject to the regulations in respect of the anti-rabies vaccination but may have to meet other requirements as to a limit on the number of animals and a certificate to accompany them in respect of other diseases. Owners are strongly advised to seek further information from the relevant authority of their country and/or that of the country of destination.


ENTRY OF A PET FROM THIRD COUNTRIES INCLUDING LONG HAUL COUNTRIES

The above rules only apply only when the pet is entering from an EU from one of the folliwng "third countries": United States, Andorra, Antigua, Aruba, Ascension Island, Australia, Bahrain, Barbados, Barbuda, Bermuda, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cayman Islands, Fiji, Falkland Islands, French Polynesia, Hong Kong, Iceland, Jamaica, Japan, Liechtenstein, Mayotte, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Norway, Russian Federation, Saint Helena, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Pierre et Miquelon, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, San Marino, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United States of America, Vanuatu, Vatican City State, Wallis and Futuna.

For regulations on the movement of pets between any other countries check the rules for that country.

VETERINARY CERTIFICATE

All of Countries have a form of veterinary certificate. This form differs from the International Veterinary Certificate issued by Veterinarians in the United States.
