REGULATIONS FOR TAKING A PET DOG OR CAT TO FIJI FROM A RABIES FREE COUNTRY OR A COUNTRY WITH A LOW INCIDENCE OF RABIES.

A permit is required for the importation of cats, dogs and other live animals.

Your pet must be microchipped with the ISO 11784/11785 pet microchip that is a 15 digit and non-encrypted. If your pet' microchip is not ISO 11784/11785 compliant, you can bring your own microchip scanner.

Your pet must be vaccinated and have a blood titer test performed between 60 days and 12 months prior to departure.

Just prior to departure, your veterinarian will complete the Fiji Health Certificate and submit to the USDA (if traveling from the United States) or the CFIA (if traveling from Canada) or the Governmental Authority for the departure country for endorsement. A copy of the Rabies Certificate should also be included.

A Ticks & Tapeworm Test must be performed within several days of departure.

Fiji requires that your pet be kept in quarantine for 30 days on arrival. Quarantine officers are stationed at the international airports at Nadi and Nausori and the ports of entry for vessels.

Pets are not permitted to enter Fiji from countries with high incidence of rabies.

Failure to comply with these regulations will mean that your pet may be refused entry and the relevant authority in consultation with an authorized veterinarian can decide to return the pet home, or place the pet in quarantine at the expense of the owner or natural person responsible for pet, or as a last resort, without financial compensation, put the pet down where the return trip home or quarantine cannot be arranged.

All other pets (birds, invertebrates, tropical fish, reptiles, amphibia, mammals such as rodents and rabbits) are not subject to the regulations in respect of the anti-rabies vaccination but may have to meet other requirements as to a limit on the number of animals and a certificate to accompany them in respect of other diseases. Pet owners are strongly advised to seek further information from the relevant authority of their country and/or that of the country of destination.

VETERINARY CERTIFICATE
All countries have a unique veterinary certificates. This form differs from the International Veterinary Certificate issued by veterinarians in the United States. (APHIS 7001)
