China Airlines In-Cabin Pet Policy
China Airlines does not allow pets to fly in the cabin with the exception of trained service, guide or hearing dogs.
Checked Baggage Pet Policy
If your pet is too large to fit under the seat, it is an animal other than a dog or cat, or if it is a very long flight, China Airlines may transport your pet in the cargo section of the aircraft according to its regulations. This section of the cargo department has the same temperature and pressure as the passenger cabin.

Dogs, cats and guide (service) dogs
Age
Minimum age is 10 weeks old to fly as checked baggage with China Airlines.
Notifications
Pet owners must print 2 copies of a Declaration for Live Animals. One is submitted at check-in and the other is attached to your pet's crate.
Forms Required
Valid import/export documents, health and vaccination certificates and any other documents required by destination countries as well as transiting countries if changing airlines. There are additional permits for transiting Taiwan.
Aircraft Restrictions
Pets are not accepted as checked baggage on B738 and ERJ aircrafts.
Route Restrictions
No pets are accepted on China Airlines flights to or from Germany.
Check In
You will need to check your pet in at the check-in desk at the terminal at least 2 hours prior to flight.
Breed Restrictions

Temperature Restrictions:
Pets will not be accepted when actual or forecasted temperatures are above 85°F (29.4°C) or below 45°F (7.2°C) at any city on the itinerary. Pets may be accepted at temperatures below 45°F with an acclimation certificate. (Check with China Airilnes before using an acclimation certificate.)
Crate Requirements:
External crate measurements must not exceed 70 cm (27.5 inches) in height and 90 cm (35 inches) in width.
For flights other than those to the United States or Canada, one animal is permitted per crate for dogs and cats weighing over 14 kg. Two pets between 10 weeks and 6 months and 14 kg each can fly in one crate as long as they are a similar size.
For flights to and from the United States and Canada, one animal is permitted per crate for dogs and cats weighing over 9 kg. Two pets between 10 weeks and 6 months and 9 kg each can fly in one crate as long as they are a similar size.
Crates must be IATA-compliant (Click here for crate requirements) and have handles. All wheels must be removed.
Metal hardware should be used to fasten the top and bottom halves of your pet' crate together.

Manifest (Air) Cargo Pet Policies
Pets Allowed:
China Airlines will ship warm blooded animals such as dogs, cats, birds, other domestic animals. China will not permit the transport of rodents, reptiles, anthripods, fish, sick animals and non-domesticated animals.
Restrictions:
If your pet is traveling as air cargo, a licensed pet transporter should be used.

PREPARING A PET CARGO CRATE FOR AIR TRAVEL
Airports Served
China serves various locations within Russia and CIS, US, Cuba, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Northern Mariana Islands,
Asia, Middle East, Africa, Australia, Asia and Europe.
Puppies and Kittens
All kittens and puppies flying with China Airlines must be at least 10 weeks of age.
Banned Breeds
The following breeds will not be permitted to fly with China Airlines: Fila Brazileiros, Japanese Tosa, Pit Bull Terrier (American Pit Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier), Dogo Argentino and Mastiff (Neapolitan Mastiff, Tibetan Mastiff, Bull Mastiff, Cane Corso, Dogue de Bordeaux).
Snub-nosed breeds may only be transported on flights less than 6 hours in duration. This time includes times associated with layovers. All layover airports must conform to temperature restrictions listed under checked baggage above.
Snub-nosed breeds must be flown in crates one size larger than normally required. The crate must provide ventilation on all four sides.
Snub-nosed breeds are only allowed during December, January, February and March on flights to/from Taiwan, Northeast Asia and China.
China Airlines classifies the following dog breeds and their mixes as snub-nosed: Boston Terrier, Boxer, Brussels Griffon, Bull Terrier, Chinese Pug, Dutch Pug, English Bulldog, English Toy Spaniel, French Bulldog, Japanese Chin, Lhasa Apso, Pekinese, Shih Tzu, Tibetan Spaniel, Affenpinscher, Japanese Pug and Pug.
China Airlines classifies the following cat breeds and their mixes as snub-nosed: Burmese, Exotic Shorthair, Himalayans, Persians (Including Chinchilla), British Shorthair and Scottish Fold.
Other Animals
China Airlines will only transport domesticated animals. Pet owners of animals other than dogs, cats and birds should contact the airline to determine if and how the airline will transport their pets. China will not permit the transport of rodents, reptiles, anthripods, fish, sick animals and non-domesticated animals.
