Who we are

We are PetTravel.com and have been protecting personal data for over 20 years. Never once have we sold, published or released data to any third party without request for transport services (see Who We Share Your Data With below).

Browsing the website

If you are just browsing our website, we collect the same basic information that most websites collect such as cookies and web server logs. Information such as browser type, date and time of your visit and referring website as well as identifying information such as IP address is also collected whether you choose to register as a user or not. We collect this information in order to better understand how our visitors use website and to monitor and protect the security of the website.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on our website, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

When you use our website, we may send a cookie (small text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters) to your computer that identifies your browser and will allow enhanced navigation through the website. The cookie may also convey how you use the website, the pages you view, the links you click and other actions you take. You can control, delete or reset your cookies through your web browser should you choose to do so; however, functionality of the website may be affected.

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Who we share your data with

When requesting a quote for pet transport, minimal information is required including name, telephone number and email address. This information is used to respond to your request and further assist you in the transport of your pet. No information is transferred, sold or published to another party ever.

When requesting a private air carter, we will also share your information with an affiliate company, Air Charter Advisors. This company will not sell, share or otherwise release your information to any other company or agency ever.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How do we protect your data?

Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by those persons who have special access rights to such systems and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all sensitive/credit information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. All transactions are processed through a gateway provider and are not stored or processed on our servers.

How do we disclose your personal information?

Simply put, we don’t disclose your personal information. We do not lend, contract or sell any information received during the quote process for any reason except for those required to by law in the belief that such action is required to comply with due legal process. This does not include website hosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or serving our users, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How long we retain your data

Suggested text: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
