  • Kitten to the UK advice please

    Hi

Just found this site after a lot of searching.
We want to bring a kitten to the UK after the rules change in 2012.
She is 2 months old now and even with todays rules it will be next year before the six months after the blood tests have passed, so we may as well wait till the new rules anyway.
We will now get all the rest done such as vaccinations and chip etc.
My question is after reading everything I can find, it looks like I just need to arrange everything with BA world cargo, but then there are companies out there that specialise in this area of importing pets.
Are these companies the right way to go, or are they charging me for making a few phone calls and buying a ticket?
I donít want to be cheep, but I want to be sure im not being duped.
    Many thanks
    TK

If you are traveling with your pet then you should be able to handle the process yourself. You will need to travel on the same BA flight as the pet. If you are not comfortable with the process then using an IPATA agent makes sense but it will add considerably to the cost.
Remember the cat must be micro chipped before it is vaccinted for rabies. If you need the complete instructions and forms for taking your pet into the UK after January 1 they are available here: http://pettravelstore.com/products/Pet-Passport-United-Kingdom-No-Quarantine.html
