  • Take worm treatment before transatlantic cruise

Hi! I have researched inside and out all the requirements for a dog to enter the UK. I know that the dog must receive a tape worm treatment 24-120 hours before arriving in the UK. My question is, if a dog is arriving on a cruise ship from NY to Southampton, and the cruise takes 6 days, then would the treatment be invalid by the time the dog reached the UK port? Do they have vets on board to administer the treatment or once you board the ship, is that technically classed as arriving in the UK?
    HELP!!
    Thanks, Jennifer

Hi Jennifer - the UK will accept your dog as long as the test is done between one and five days of leaving the United States. The thinking here is that you will be at sea and your dog will not disembark until you reach Southampton.
