• Dog travel US to UK

Hi. We'll be bringing our two Shih Tzu's with us to London. To avoid the cargo travel requirement for dogs into the UK I'm thinking that routing thru Paris is the better option. Renting or taking a car service to Le Shuttle and into England. Has anyone else taken this route? Would love to hear the experiences of others.
Are there other options we should consider? Routing from US to UK, using another point of entry?
Thank you.

You can find a great article on traveling on Le Shuttle here: http://www.dogjaunt.com/2013/11/taking-a-dog-into-and-out-of-england-on-the-eurotunnel-le-shuttle/

You can also consider pet friendly ferries: http://www.pettravel.com/cruise_ferry_rules.cfm

I live in the US and am needing to know if I would be allowed to stay with my 16 1/2 year old shih tzu traveling to England?

Lizbeth - due to commercial airline regulations, your Shih Tzu must travel as air cargo into the UK. You can avoid this requirement by flying into Paris or Amsterdam and taking a pet friendly ferry to England.

Or Le Shuttle (train) through the Chunnel, but you will need a car for this.

We're flying into Paris. Carrying on our dogs. Hired a pet car service to take us into London. You will need to get the full UK pet exams and certifications, however. That will be checked on the France side before taking the train into the UK.

takirosl - your shih tzu will need to fly to England as air cargo unless it is a service or emotional support dog due to regulations of all commercial airlines. Although they will do everything they can to keep you on the same flight, they will not guarantee it. Know that very few airlines will fly a snub-nosed breed like a Shih Tzu to fly in the cargo hold. Lufthansa will; however, as with most airlines, an agent will be required to book the transport. If you need assistance, you can email info@pettraveltransport.com with some details regarding the transport.
