In-Cabin Pet Policy

If your small dog or cat meets the requirements listed in Aeromexico pet policy to travel in-cabin, you will need an approved airline pet carrier. The carrier must have a waterproof bottom, have room for your pet to stand up and turn around, must fasten securly and have adequate ventilation.

Pets Allowed:

Small cats and dogs.

Aeromexico will transport dogs or cats on flights with a duration of 6 hours or less.

Age Requirements:

Pets must be at least 16 weeks old to travel in the cabin.

Restrictions:

Rabies vaccinations administered 30 days prior to transport are required for pets over 3 months of age.

One pet is permitted per carrier and one carrier per passenger. Pets must fly on the same flight as their oweners. Pets must be healthy and not under any type of medical treatment.

Carrier Requirements:

Carrier measurements will vary depending on the aircraft serving the route. (read on) There is one pet permitted per passenger. Carriers must be secure, allow for your pet to stand up and turn around and must have a waterproof bottom.

Maximum weight of pet: 19.8 pounds (9kg)

Reservations:

You should notify Aeromexico that you are traveling with a pet prior to making your own booking. You must be an adult passenger and your pet will count towards your carry-on allowance.

Cost:

$125USD one way for flights to/from US, Canada, Central and South America. 1,000MXN for domestic flights within Mexico.

Forms required:

Rabies certificates are required. Health certificates are required for all flights except those involving the United States and Canada. All required forms for destination country are required.

Service and Emotional Support Animals

Aeromexico will transport professionally trained service animals less than 60 pounds which are assisting customers with disabilities free of charge. The service animals must be must be muzzled (if necessary) and will sit at the passenger's feet. A certification must be provided to substantiate that the animal was trained to assist a person with a disability by a professional service animal institution.

Aeromexico will transport emotional support animals in the cabin free of charge. Passenger must provide a letter from licensed physician stating passengers need to travel with their animal for a recognized mental disability and a description of that animal at check-in. The certificate must be issued by a mental health specialist on their letterhead, with their license number, business name, address, phone number, and signature. Emotional support animals should be leashed and muzzled (if not trained).

Aeromexico Checked Baggage Pet Policy

If your pet is too large to fit under the seat, it is an animal other than a dog or cat, or if it is a very long flight, Aeromexico may transport your pet in the cargo section of the aircraft according to its regulations. This section of the cargo department has the same temperature and pressure as the passenger cabin.

Pets flying to the United Kingdom must fly as air cargo.

Age

Pets must be at least 16 weeks of age and vaccinated for rabies.

Reservations:

The number of pets accepted in the baggage compartment is limited by aircraft type so you should contact Aeromexico to make reservations for your pet before booking your ticket.

Check-In:

When flying as checked baggage, you will check in your pet at the passenger ticket counter at least 90 minutes prior to flight time in an IATA compliant pet crate at which time you will pay the fee for transport. In order to travel as checked baggage, The weight of your pet and its carrier should not exceed 99 pounds otherwise your pet will travel via Aeromexico Cargo.

Temperature Restrictions:

If, at any point, (origination/transit/destination) during your pet's transport, the temperature for the day is forecast to be less than 45 degrees F (7°C) or greater than 85°F (29°C), your pet will be refused transport as checked baggage.

Forms Required:

Aeromexico will require all forms required for destination country be presented at check-in when traveling internationally. An international health certificate and vaccination certificate will be required.

Crate Requirements:

Manifest (Air) Cargo Pet Policies

Aeromexico Cargo serves cities all over Mexico, the United States, Canada, EU, Japan Central and South America.

Pets Allowed:

Warm blooded mammals and birds, acquatics and insects as well as reptiles and rodents. Aeromexico Cargo will not ship dangerous or offensive animals, non-human primates for experiments, threatened species, unhealthy animals or pets that will be banned by the country of destination.

Age

Minimum age allowed is 16 weeks of age.

Check-In:

Locations will vary by airport depending on the location of the cargo office.
