Pet Immigration Rules Martinique

REGULATIONS FOR TAKING A PET DOG OR CAT TO MARTINIQUE

Martinique does not quarantine healthy pets who meet the following requirements:

The pet must have a BLUE PET PASSPORT if traveling from an EU Country or the bi-lingual Martinique Veterinary Certificate if entering from a country with low incidence of rabies.

This passport or veterinary certificate must show that the pet has been vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian at least 30 days prior to travel and, it has been given any other vaccinations or treatment that each individual country may require.

Pets (dogs and cats only) under 3 months old and unvaccinated may enter if they have a veterinary certificate and have stayed in the country of birth without contact with wild animals likely to have been exposed to infection or are accompanied by their mothers on whom they are still dependent.

ENTERING MARTINIQUE FROM A COUNTRY WITH HIGH INCIDENCE OF RABIES

Where the third country is not listed above, then the pet can only enter Martinique when it has been identified with a pet microchip meeting ISO Standards 11784 and has a veterinary certificate showing that it has not only undergone an anti-rabies vaccination but that also a rabies serological test has been carried out at least 30 days after vaccination and 3 months before being moved. This 3 month period will not apply to re-entry into the EU, if its passport shows that the test was carried out with a positive effect before leaving the EU.

All other pets (birds, invertebrates, tropical fish, reptiles, amphibia, mammals such as rodents and rabbits) may be moved with a certificate but we are waiting for the European Parliament to determine what the conditions and requirements will be. Owners are advised to contact the relevant authorities for further information regarding such conditions and requirements.
