Pet Immigration Rules French Polynesia
REGULATIONS FOR TAKING A PET DOG OR CAT TO FRENCH POLYNESIA/TAHITI
Dogs and Cats may not enter French Polynesia (Tahiti) without an
Import Permit.
SIX MONTH RESIDENCY
The Cat or Dog must have resided in one of the following countries
for a period of six months prior to beginning the quarantine period.
Aruba, Bahamas, Bahrain, Belgium, Bermuda, Brunei, Canada, Cape
Discovery, Cayman Islands, Denmark, Spain, Arab Emirates, United
States, France, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy,
Luxembourg, Isle Mauritius, Malaysia, Pays-Bs, Portugal, Qatar,
Shaba, Sarawak, The Seychelles, Switzerland, Taiwan, Virgin Islands.
Your pet must be vaccinated and receive a Blood Titer Test prior to
a 30 day quarantine in an official approved station in a rabies free country.
After the quarantine period is complete, the animal is shipped directly to French Polynesia in an
IATA compliant container. The animal may not transit a non-rabies
free country.
The animal must accompanied by the official French
Polynesian Authorization and the government endorsed (USDA if traveling from the United States and CFIA if traveling from Canada)
Health Certificate for French Polynesia
and the rabies vaccination certificate. If you are traveling from another country, the Governmental Authority should
endorse the forms for you. A copy of the Rabies Certificate should
also be included.
QUARANTINE - There are no quarantine facilities in French Polynesia.

Failure to comply with these regulations will mean that your pet may
be refused entry and the relevant authority in consultation
with an authorized veterinarian can decide to return the pet home, or place
the pet in quarantine at the expense of the owner or natural person
responsible for pet, or as a last resort, without financial
compensation, put the pet down where the return trip home or
quarantine cannot be arranged.
All other pets (birds, invertebrates, tropical fish, reptiles,
amphibia, mammals such as rodents and rabbits) are not subject to
the regulations in respect of the anti-rabies vaccination but may
have to meet other requirements as to a limit on the number of
animals and a certificate to accompany them in respect of other
diseases. Pet owners are strongly advised to seek further information
from the relevant authority of their country and/or that of the
country of destination.
VETERINARY CERTIFICATE
All countries have a unique veterinary certificates. This form
differs from the International Veterinary Certificate issued by
veterinarians in the United States. (APHIS 7001)
