Pet Microchip

Your pet should be microchipped with an ISO 11784/11785 pet microchip that is a 15 digit and non-encrypted. If your pet's microchip is not ISO 11784/11785 compliant, you can bring your own microchip scanner. Make sure your veterinarian scans your pet's microchip after it is implanted.

Your pet's microchip number should be present on all documentation required to enter Samoa.

Vaccinations

All vaccinations must be current including rabies. Vaccination records will be reviewed at the time of import permit application.

Rabies Titer Test

A rabies titer test may be deemed necessary if entering Samoa from an unapproved country.

Import Permit

Importers must file an import permit well in advance and include all medical records for your dog or cat prior to import.

Pet Health Certificate

A licensed veterinarian must issue a health certificate for Samoa before travel. The certificate must be endorsed by the government agency responsible for the import and export of live animals.

Internal and External Parasites

Before your dog or cat can enter Samoa, it should be treated against fleas and ticks.

Countries that Samoa approves for pet import

Pets may enter Samoa from the following countries: American Samoa, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and the United States.

If your pet is not originating from a country listed above, then you can file the import permit application for consideration.

Entering Samoa by Air

Pets entering Samoa must fly into via Faleolo Airport.

When entering Samoa from another country through New Zealand, pets must be quarantined in New Zealand, then remain on the island for 90 days after quarantine prior to entering Samoa.

Puppies and Kittens

Unvaccinated puppies and kittens are not permitted to enter Samoa.

Other Animals

Animals other than dogs and cats must secure advance permission prior to import.
