Marshall Islands Pet Passport & Import Regulations
Below are regulations for taking a pet dog or cat from the mainland United States, Canada
and other
countries with a low incidence of rabies
in which it has lived for at least 6 months prior to entering the
Marshall Islands.
The Marshall Islands do not have quarantine facilities, so they
allow your pet to enter from countries where rabies occurs or where
rabies vaccinations are practiced as long as they spend 120 days in quarantine in a country
considered as rabies-free or your pet qualifies for entry to
Hawaii or
Guam.
Unless your pet is entering the Marshall Islands from Guam or Hawaii, it will be subject to 6 months of quarantine. This quarantine would need to occur in a place considered to be rabies-free by the Marshall Islands, such as Guam or Hawaii.
Pet Microchip
Your pet must be microchipped with an ISO 11784/11785 pet microchip that is a 15 digit and non-encrypted. If your pet's microchip is not ISO 11784/11785 compliant, you can bring your own microchip scanner. Make sure your veterinarian scans your pet's microchip after it is implanted.
Your pet's microchip number must be present on all documentation required to enter Marshall Islands.
Vaccinations
Your dog or cat must be vaccinated for rabies more than 30 days prior to entry to the Marshall Islands.
Your dog must be also vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis and canine parvovirus at least 30 days and not more than 3 months prior to entry.
Rabies Titer Test
The results of a rabies titer test will be required to enter the Marshall Islands.
Import Permit
An import permit is not required to enter the Marshall Islands; however, it is required to enter Hawaii or Guam.
Pet Health Certificate
A licensed veterinarian in the origination country must complete a pet health certificate for the Marshall Islands. It must be an original - no photocopies are allowed. This certificate must be issued by your veterinarian not more than 48 hours prior to your pet's arrival to the Marshall Islands.
Internal and External Parasites
Your cat or dog must be treated against ectoparasites within 3 days of arrival.
Countries that the Marshall Islands approves for pet import
Pets from rabies-controlled countries may enter the Marshall Islands after spending a minimum of 120 days of quarantine in a country where rabies has not been reported in the past 2 years or if they qualify for entry to Guam or Hawaii.
Entering the Marshall Islands by Air
Pets entering Marshall Islands must enter the Marshall Islands International Airport.
All domestic dogs and cats must be free of evidence of disease communicable to humans when examined at the port of entry in London. If your dog or cat is not in apparent good health, further examination by a licensed veterinarian may be required at your expense.
Puppies and Kittens
Unvaccinated puppies and kittens are not permitted to enter the Marshall Islands.
