Delta Airlines beats summer heat embargo with new summer Live Animal Program

Anyone who has a pet that needs to fly in cargo should contact Delta as they have a Live Animal program that allows pets to move to or from the aircraft, animal holding areas, and cargo facilities in air conditioning. The program is available in selected cities and for cats and dogs only. Call 1-888 SENDPET (1-888-736-3738) for details. Sure hope that other airlines follow suit as it is difficult to fly with your pet in cargo during the summer months.

Has anyone used this program since its inception in May? What was your experience with Delta??

Well we flew back from USA to India in December,2011 and used Delta airline. Was great experience. I would call great where and when my pet is safe and reach in my hand safely. He was furious but that was because of the crate as I don't put him in crate besides traveling period.
Now we are planning to go back to USA again and I think this time we will use single airline all the way to the States, this may help us handling his crate by single airline. I want to avoid much of hassle when it comes to my dog. Do you have any suggestions? How about Etihad Airline?
