Re: International travel with a dog

How about pet crates? Are the requirements for them different for different airlines? What would be the best variant for my dog in accordance with France and Ukraine? My dog is small, about 9 pounds...Thank you again!

The airline all require that cargo crates are compliant with IATA specifications. You can find them here: http://www.iata.org/whatwedo/cargo/live_animals/Documents/container-requirement1-lar37.pdf. Basically, it has to made from sturdy plastic, spring lock door, waterproof bottom, no wheels. Some airlines will not allow plastic fasteners and require steel hardware instead. These crates are IATA compliant: http://www.pettravelstore.com/categories/Pet-Crates-%26-Accessories/Pet-Crates/. Example of hardware is here: http://www.pettravelstore.com/products/Pet-Crate-Hardware.html.
