State Capital Columbia SC South Carolina offers a myriad of attractions for the pet traveler. Hilton Head Island is a beautiful spot with plenty of golf, sandy beaches, shopping and walking. It was built at the intersection of the Broad and the Saluda  Rivers and is near Lake Murray which is one of the premier lakes in the southeast for boating and fishing. Canoeing and kayaking are very popular sports here. Congaree National Park is just outside the city. This city has been recognized as one of the best places to retire and a most livable community.
