Great fishing nearby. In the winter, if you like snow, there is skiing, cross country skiing, sledding and other winter sport activities. If you get tired of the cold and need some warm city life, drive 2.5 hours and you are in the warmth of Phoenix where you can take your pet to Papago State Park and enjoy the cactus park; lots of walking trails with your pet. Then 3.5 hours to the northwest is a day trip to the wonderful Grand Canyon. Lots of pet friendly accommodations and some areas of the park, you can take your pet with you.
