In-Cabin Pet Policy

Sun Country will permit small cats and dogs to fly in the cabin on routes to the 48 contiguous United States. Pets are not accepted on any international flights or on flights to/from Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Carrier Requirements

Carriers must have waterproof bottoms, be well ventilated on 2 sides, and have secure fasteners. Your pet must fit comfortably inside the carrier, and must be able to stand up and turn around. Weight limit is 16 pounds. One pet is allowed per carrier and one carrier is allowed per passenger. Maximum carrier size is 16"L x 10"W x 8"H. Soft-sided carriers are required.

There is a maximum of 4 pets per aircraft. Pets must remain in their carriers under the seat in front of the passenger for the entire flight.

Reservations

Reservations should be made in advance by contacting Sun Country Customer Service. Reservations cannot be made online. Pet owners are recommended to book the middle seat as there is more room under middle seats.

Cost

$75 USD per flight segment with advance reservations (recommended). $100 USD without advance reservations. Fees are non-refundable.

Restrictions

Pets are not accepted on connecting flights or non-direct flights greater than 5 hours in length.

Service Animals

Service dogs trained to assist passengers with mobility, visual, and hearing disabilities are permitted to fly on Sun Country flights without charge. On international flights or those to Hawaii, the passenger is responsible for providing all vaccination records and documentation required for the destination country. The purchase of an extra seat may be necessary depending on the size of the service dog. Contact customer service at 651-905-2737.

Checked Baggage Pet Policy

Sun Country Airlines does not permit pets to fly in the cargo hold of their aircraft as checked baggage.

Air Cargo Pet Policies

Sun Country Airlines does not permit live animals to fly as air cargo on any of their aircraft.

Sun Country Airlines flies to destinations all over the United States, Mexico, Central America, Jamaica, Aruba, Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic; however, pets are only allowed on flights within the 48 contiguous states of the United States.
