IN CABIN: Frontier
does NOT allow pets in the cabin except service animals.
pets checked as baggage
Your pet will be handled with great care and will be treated as one of the family. For their safety, pets must travel in an approved travel container as follows:
One dog or cat per travel container, if the animal is over six months old
Limit of two puppies or kittens per travel container, as long as they're from the same litter, are between the ages of eight weeks and six months and weigh less than 20 pounds each
We'll allow two pets per ticketed passenger, provided the operating aircraft can accommodate both. We charge a fee of $100 per travel container one-way or $200 per travel container roundtrip, so please make sure to give yourself extra time for checking in. You'll need to pay this fee at the ticket counter when you check in.
For the ease of your travel, when transporting your pet, please follow the guidelines below:
Make advanced reservations on the phone. Pets can't be booked online so please call our Reservations Department so we can ensure availability and reserve space for your pet.
Your pet must be harmless, inoffensive, odorless and require no attention during transit.
You must make arrangements and assume full responsibility for complying with any applicable laws, customs and government regulations or restrictions of the country, state or territory to which your pet is being transported.
You must supply the following required documents:
A health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian issued within 10 days of originating travel, regardless of the pet's age
A rabies certificate (for dogs only)
NOTE: Most veterinarians advise against sedating pets for travel since the effects of tranquilizers on animals at higher altitudes are unpredictable. The decision to administer a tranquilizer to your pet is between you and your veterinarian.
Sorry, but we won't accept:
pets requiring interline transfer to another carrier
pets on international or charter flights
unaccompanied pets (they'll have to travel as cargo)
reptiles, amphibians, insects or arachnids/spiders
Please be aware that certain flights operated by our codeshare partners - including Great Lakes Aviation and Horizon Air operating as Frontier JetExpress - may not accept live animals checked as baggage. Please call our Reservations Department at 800-4321-FLY (800-432-1359) to make sure the flight you're traveling on can accommodate pets.
weather matters
To protect your pet's health and well-being, temperature restrictions have been established to ensure your pet isn't exposed to extreme heat or cold. It's not safe to transport your pet if the forecasted temperature in any city on your itinerary is below 45°F or above 85°F. If the temperature is outside these limits, we can't transport him or her unless you get a Certificate of Acclimation signed by your veterinarian. The Certificate of Acclimation must include:
A statement by the veterinarian that, to the best of his or her knowledge, the animal is acclimated to air temperatures below 45°F or above 85°F
A statement by the veterinarian giving a minimum and maximum temperature your pet can safely withstand when traveling
The statement must be signed by the veterinarian dated no more than 10 days prior to the originating departure
There is a bottom line, please know that even with a Certificate of Acclimation, we can't accept your pet when the temperature is below 10°F or above 95°F. We stand by this rule because we love pets as much as you do and don't want to see any harm come to them. Please make sure to keep weather in mind when planning a trip with your pet.
pet embargoes
Because "weather matters", the outside temperature must be within the range to keep our pets safe. Some cities require a permanent embargo for pet travel during the summer months. The following cities cannot transport pets during the months of June, July, August and September:
Houston (12:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.)
Phoenix
Tucson
Las Vegas
Ft. Lauderdale
There are also day of departure embargos at select cities when the temperatures are just too high. Please call our Reservations Department if you have any questions.
animal containers
For the comfort of your pet and for us to accept him or her, please follow the guidelines below when selecting a travel container.
Containers must be leak-proof.
The container must be ventilated on at least two sides and must prevent any part of the animal from protruding outside of the container.
The container must be constructed of metal, wood, polyethylene plastic or a composite material of similar strength, and have absorbent material on the bottom. No soft-sided containers will be allowed.
Food and water dishes must be securely attached inside the travel container and placed so that they can be filled from the outside without opening the door.
The container must be large enough to allow your pet to stand up, turn around and lie down in a natural position.
The door must latch securely and prevent escape of the pet under normal handling.
The container must have handles or adequate devices which support the full weight of the travel container and pet.
Containers must be labeled with stickers or markings as follows:
"Live Animals"
Orientation arrows indicating the correct upright position of the container
Passenger's name, address and telephone number (may be attached to the handle)
All travel containers are subject to inspection and approval by Frontier.
Please keep in mind that we don't stock or sell kennels so, for "pet's sake" come prepared
