Airline Pet Policy Allegiant Air

Allegiant Dog

If your dog or cat meets the requirements listed in Allegiant pet policy to travel in-cabin, you will need an approved airline pet carrier. You must notify Allegiant Air that you are traveling with a pet. Reservations cannot be made online.

Allegiant Air does not provide checked baggage or cargo services.

Allegiant Air Pet Policy

Many airlines require a health certificate indicating that the pet is healthy enough for travel, is free of diseases communicable to humans and has been properly vaccinated, especially when traveling in the cargo section of the aircraft.

If you are traveling to another country, Allegiant Air will want to see that you have the proper documents to enter that country with your pet. Most countries have their own version of a Veterinary Certificate. In addition, some countries require an Import Permit. Find pet passport forms and instructions in the Pet Travel Store.

What size of carrier for a dog 15 lbs how tall
Posted on 2014-04-16 15:55:04.0
Jean - measure your pet from top of ears to the floor and that should give you the vertical measurement. If you are traveling internationally, you should measure from the tip of ears if they are erect.

What is the weight limit? I have a 17-pound Italian Greyhound.
Posted on 2014-05-19 20:14:31.0
Susan - will your Greyhound fit into an airline compliant pet carrier and have room to stand up and turn around in the carrier?

I have 2 chihuahuas both about 3.5 lbs. each 9rs old. One cannot walk as she has clubbed feet. Both in exceptional health. Can they travel together in one crate? Is there a charge?

Can a puppy be shipped? Meaning I will not be with my pet
Posted on 2014-07-12 02:19:46.0
how much does the pet need to weigh to go on the plane with me .?
Posted on 2014-07-30 21:58:39.0
Shirley it is not so much the weight as the length and height of your pet and whether the carrier can fit under the seat in front of you. Normally, the maximum is 18" from tip of nose to base of tail and 10-11" high. Your cat or dog needs to be able to stand up and turn around in the carrier.

Hannah - a puppy can be shipped unaccompanied but not on Allegiant Air as they don't offer cargo services. Try United, Delta, American, Alaskan Air or others that serve your route.
Posted on 2014-08-02 19:07:54.0
Yes, a puppy can be shipped unaccompanied, but not with Allegiant Air. Almost all US based airlines offer cargo services with the exception of US Airways, Southwest and JetBlue.
Posted on 2014-08-02 19:09:03.0
Pam - the decision to fly pets together either in the cabin or in the hold vary with each airline. Allegiant does not fly pets in the hold, but many other airines do.

Can I bring a small dog in-cabin to Honolulu?
Posted on 2014-09-02 00:23:43.0
Chrys - most airlines (including Allegiant) will not permit an animal to travel to Hawaii in the cabin. Alaska Air is one exception.

I have a 5 inch tortoise and her crate is not bigger than a foot and half long. Will I be able to bring her in the plane with me?
Posted on 2014-10-02 11:50:22.0
Hello Maryann, Unfortunately, Allegiant Air will only accept pet dogs and cats in the cabin. There are very few airlines that do accept other species in the cabin. In most cases reptiles will need to be transported in the cargo hold which Allegiant will not accomodate. United, Delta, and American Airlines are three U.S. domestic airlines that accept animals for cargo transport.

I purchased tickets to fly from Indiana to Florida. On my trio I purchased a puppy. Do I now call the airline to pay the $100 fee. I have a window seat on return flight already
Posted on 2014-10-13 22:56:56.0
Mary - contact Allegiant Reservations as soon as possible to make a reservation for your puppy as they only allow a certain number of animals per flight. You will pay the fee when you check in at the departure airport.

Where are the dimensions? I'll I get from live chat is 9x16x19. Which one is the L,W, and H? I want to make sure I'm purchasing the correct size.
Posted on 2014-10-16 19:18:04.0
Mindy - the measurements are 19L x 16W x 9H. Keep in mind that soft sided carriers can squish down to fit under the seat. Oftentimes the measurements are quoted for hard sided carriers.

where can i get the kennel (9x 16x19)? I spend hours on line trying to get the one, can't find it,,,,, can I go with 10 inches tall?
Posted on 2014-11-16 01:28:30.0
Marco - as long as you select a soft-sided carrier that can "squish" down to fit under the seat, you will be fine exceeding the height limitation by a few inches. The object is to get the carrier under the seat and have enough room in the carrier for your pet to stand up and turn around.

I have a golden retriever that is also a registered service dog, but I've never flown with him before. Will Allegient allow a large dog like him travel with me in the cabin?
Posted on 2015-01-11 00:10:34.0
Hi Charles - yes, it will be possible to bring a certified service dog with you in the cabin with prior approval from Allegiant. They should seat you in the bulkhead where there is room at your feet for your pet to sit. Your pet must not block access for other passengers or flight attendants.
Posted on 2015-01-14 04:29:34.0
PetTravel thanks. what do you mean by "certified service dog" and can you be specific on Allegient's requirements for meeting them. thank you.
Posted on 2015-01-14 05:16:39.0
Charles Mitchell If your dog has certification for being a service animal, that will be suitable for Allegiant. You need to give them advance notice that you will be flying with a service animal.

I am flying Alligiant soon. Do I need to have a "health certificate" or is my last health checkup listing immunizations, etc. enough?
Posted on 2015-01-23 22:40:24.0
Diana - no health certificate required for in-cabin travel on Allegiant. You should always travel with proof of rabies vaccination history just in case there are any questions, but it is not required.
Posted on 2015-01-29 04:13:36.0
I have been on hold with Allegient forever trying to make a reservation for my little dog. Is there another number to get through. I don't want to wait too long to book my dog since we have our reservations already booked for April 20th Jan Manson
Posted on 2015-02-28 22:34:13.0
Janice- Allegiant has a live chat option. If that does not pan out for you, then call your airport and ask for a local number for them.

Hi how much does it cost to ship a puppy alone from Grand Rapids MI to mess, AZ on June 11th
Posted on 2015-04-27 17:51:58.0
Marilyn - Allegiant will not allow your pet to travel in the seat. It must be in a carrier under the seat in front of you. All airlines have this requirement. No health certificates are required for pets traveling in the cabin.
Posted on 2015-05-03 13:59:42.0
Christian - you will need to contact Allegiant's cargo department directly about costs. We will caution that Allegiant may refuse to transport your pup in the cargo hold in mid-June due to high temperatures.

Can I bring a fish on in a personal bag? Or carry on?
Posted on 2015-06-16 02:21:51.0

Jake - according to Allegiant's pet policy, only small cats and dogs are allowed in the cabin, but we would still ask them about your fish as they may make an exception. You will also need to get clearance from TSA.

What is the fee for a cat to travel under the seat
Posted on 2015-07-10 18:24:17.0

Do cats need to be current on their vaccinations to fly?
Posted on 2015-07-15 04:49:01.0

Lisa - they should be current on their vaccinations, but the airlines do not verify this as laws governing rabies vaccinations are left up to the states.
Posted on 2015-07-17 04:20:33.0

Linda - the fee for pets traveling on domestic flights is $100 each way.

What are the size restrictions for a pet carrier on allegiant
Posted on 2015-08-28 20:25:13.0

Show can my pet sit in my lap what certificate do I need
Posted on 2015-09-21 19:43:21.0

Douglas - the size restrictions are 9" H x 16" W x 19" D for in-cabin carriers. Soft sided carriers can squish down to fit under the seat.
Posted on 2015-09-28 04:07:49.0

Briana - the carrier cannot exceed 9" H x 16" W x 19" D. It is the height of you puppy that is concerning. He must be able to stand up and turn around in the carrier.
Posted on 2015-09-28 04:09:45.0

Jean - unless your dog is a certified service animal or ESA, it must travel in a carrier.
Posted on 2015-09-28 04:10:33.0
