Air Jamaica
HELPFUL TIPS - TRAVELING BY AIR WITH YOUR PET
HEALTH CERTIFICATE
Air Jamaica requires a certificate of good health indicating that the pet is healthy enough for travel, is free of diseases communicable to humans and has been properly vaccinated.
The forms and instructions for Air Jamaica are available here: http://www.pettravelstore.com/store-pet-airline-forms1.html.
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL
If you are traveling to another country the airline will want to see that you have the proper documents to enter that country with your pet. Most countries have their own version of a veterinary certificate sometimes called a Zoo Sanitary Certificate. In addition some countries require an import permit. These forms are available here: http://www.pettravelstore.com/store-pet-immigration-forms1.html.
HOT AND COLD WEATHER RESTRICTIONS
When runway temperatures are above 84 degrees at the departure airport the airline may refuse to board the pet in the cargo (checked baggage) section of the aircraft. When the weather is very cold with a runway temperature below 45 degrees at the time of departure the airline may require what is called an acclimation certificate that is available here:

SMALL PETS - IN CABIN TRAVEL
Air Jamaica does not accept pets in the cabin of the aircraft except for medically certified
service animals.
LARGER PETS - IN CHECKED BAGGAGE OR CARGO
Air Jamaica does not accept pets as checked baggage. Pets can only travel on Air Jamaica Cargo.
If your pet is traveling in the cargo section, sometimes referred to as check baggage it must be in a pet crate that is APHIS/IATA compliant. You can view these pet crates by visiting: http://www.classypets.com/Merchant5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CPTS&Product_Code=CRT001&Category_Code=PTSCRT.

MORE TIPS FOR PET AIR TRAVEL
1. Never give your pet a medical (prescription) sedative. If you want your pet to be more relaxed, then give it a natural relaxing agent such as HAPPY TRAVELER
2. Always purchase your pet carrier well in advance of your trip so that the pet can get used to it.
3. Be sure to tell the airline you will be flying with a pet as they impose restrictions on the number of pets on a specific flight.
4. Even though air travel can be stressful for your pet both you and your pet, you will be happier if the pet gets to go with you on your trip.
