Arizona
is located in the southwestern part of the United States. Parts of Arizona were
inhabited as early at 500 AD by the Sinagua Indians while the Hopi's, Apaches,
and Navajo tribes roamed freely over Northern Arizona. These prehistoric people built
extensive cavitation's complete with cliff dwelling, architectural puelos and ball courts.
One of the many reasons for you and your pet to explore Arizona.
Pet friendly Arizona is well known for
cactus, rugged mountains, desert dry climate, hot summers, and mild
winters, but the high country in the north features pine forests and
mountain ranges with cooler weather than the lower deserts. The magnificent and
inarguably beautiful, Grand Canyon is easily Arizona’s most distinguishable landmark.
Stretching 277 miles from end to end, steep, rocky walls descend more than a mile to the
canyon's floor, where the wild Colorado River traces a swift course southwest. Well behaved
pets on a leash are welcome in the national park, but not at the base of the canyon.
Whether your getaway includes an indulgent stay at a world-class
spa, or a thrilling adventure in a truly magnificent and exotic land
that keeps you wanting more, the Grand Canyon State has something
for everyone.
Arizona, the 6th largest and the last contiguous state to be
admitted to the Union, is one of the "four corner" states bordered
by New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and California, as well as sharing a 389
mile border with Mexico. Located in the southwestern area of the
U.S., it is best known for its broad desert landscapes, cactus, hot
summers and mild winters but less known for its pine covered high
country in the north-central part of the state. This pet friendly
state even boasts its own license plate, displaying a dog and cat
saying "Pets enrich our lives", available as a specialty plate.
Talk about pet friendly, Phoenix, the capital, and Tuscon, the
second largest city, combined, have over 100 pet friendly
hotels and accommodations, 14 pet friendly
campgrounds and 11 dog parks. In fact, near Tuscon, in Amado, there
is even a 50's style diner for dogs called Dog Chef's American
Kitchen serving up all natural foods for your furry friend. After
chowing down, Rover can romp in a acre fenced in dog park, just to
burn off a few calories. Gilbert, Arizona even hosts an annual
Barktoberfest, where dogs party in the park.
Visiting Arizona is all about family fun. Sedona's Red Rocks,
Flagstaff's forested mountains, the cobalt-blue waters of Lake Powel
and the Grand Canyon offer an abundance of opportunity to discover
the natural wonders awaiting you. And let's not forget the "mother
road", route 66 where you can explore what once was the main street
of America.
While arts, culture and heritage abound, don't forget the exotic
nightlife and fine dining available throughout the state. And of
course, bring your golf clubs. There are over 400 golf courses to
choose from, many of them stops on the PGA tour. How about sniffing
out a bit of history with your pet in one of Arizona's many ghost
towns? There are literally thousands of miles of trails too, that
you and your pets can explore in six national forests.
Dog parks where your pet can romp and
socialize with other animals are
available in Phoenix,
Surprise,
Avondale,
Glendale,
Tempe,
Mesa,
Chandler,
Gilbert, and
Scottsdale.
So indulge yourself in the multifaceted offerings of Arizona.
Whether you want to relax or spend your time exploring the exotic
painted landscape, you, your family, and your pet, are guaranteed to
have a memorable time.
